MANDATE: Victim Services of Temiskaming & District is a non-profit,
community-based program that provides immediate crisis assistance through our professional
staff who work in partnership with the police, emergency services and other community-based
agencies.
OUR MISSION - We work to prevent violence through awareness and education.
We collaborate with community agencies to provide trauma-informed support and advocacy
for every person in the District of Temiskaming who has experienced crime or sudden tragedy.
ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW:
Victim Services of Temiskaming & District is governed by a Voluntary Community Board,
consisting of a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and additional community members.
The Board's roles and responsibilities are guided by a set of By-Laws.
Our staff consists of an Executive Director, Victim Support Workers and Responders in the
Temiskaming and Kirkland Lake areas. Our Team provides on-scene and telephone support, which
is dispatched after business hours by emergency services.
Victims and their families requiring immediate support are referred to Victim Services while
Emergency Personnel and the Police are on-scene. Victims, survivors, families and communities
who have been traumatized as a result of crime and/or tragedy can seek support without police
involvement by calling the Victim Services office during regular business hours.

A victim is any person whose life has been affected by a criminal act or traumatic circumstance, regardless of severity. Victims are those whose personal rights have been violated by criminal, violent or aggressive act(s). Victims are also the family and survivors of those who have been traumatized as a result of crime, and/or tragedy.
